GOD

…is the Creator, Sustainer and ultimate Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, co-essential, and are one God.

Genesis 1:1, Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

JESUS CHRIST

…is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead and will return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

… serves to glorify Jesus by convicting the world of sin, enabling us to please God, empowering His Church to live the Great Commission, and guiding us in truth. He empowered the writers of the Bible to pen its words and enables readers of it to understand them. He draws people to Christ and grants them with new life. He also fills believers with power for Christian life and witness, and imparts spiritual gifts for the edification of the body and for various works of ministry. The gifts listed in the scriptures have not ceased; the miraculous outworking of these gifts is possible, although governed by the sovereignty of God and by the fact that the Kingdom of God, although present, has not yet come in its fullness.

2 Peter 1:21; Acts 1:8, 2:33, 4:31; Romans 15:18-19, 8:7-9; John 14:26, 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 12:7, 11, 14:12; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, 4:4, 4:6; Hebrews 2:3-4; 1 Peter 4:10-11

HUMAN BEINGS

… have been created by God in His image, to glorify and enjoy Him forever. Because the first couple, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God’s command when tested, they and all people since are alienated from God and are sinners by nature and choice. Because God is Holy and cannot tolerate sin, all people are under condemnation and unable to save themselves.

Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23, 5:12

SALVATION

...comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It cannot be earned by good works or self-improvement. Only by God’s offer of forgiveness by trusting in Jesus Christ can men and women be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life with God begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ by faith.

Romans 5:1; 6:23; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9; John 1:12, 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26

THE BIBLE

… is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Psalm 119:160; John 17:17; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19

THE CHURCH

…is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. The church consists of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a genuine profession of faith, who gather together for worship, service and fellowship. The primary purpose of the church is to glorify God; to worship him. The primary task of the church is to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

Matthew 16:16-18, 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-41; Ephesians 2:19, 22, 5:25-27

THE RETURN OF JESUS

… will be both personal and visible and will occur at the end of the age. It will be followed by the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal joy of the saved and the endless suffering of the lost (those who don’t know Christ as Saviour and Lord).

John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15
